1st October, 2009 Teacher training at the British Centre ... The British Centre teacher team have been undergoing a series of training sessions dealing with up-to-date pedagogics and classroom management skills in order to ensure that the classes they teach are of optimum quality and more importantly up-to-date! These sessions are held every Friday from 4:30 to 7pm and will follow this pattern throughout the rest of this year. A wide range of topics will be covered in order to to help teachers implement the very best of English Language teaching tools in the teaching of English and help make our team more efficient for and responsive to student’s learning styles and needs in general. For our own team of teachers, of course, there is no cost for attending. Any external teachers are more than welcome to attend but a small fee will be payable. Our annual Children and Adolescent English Language Programme once again commenced at the end of August, and has been running with its usual seamless style. The youngsters from 6 to 11 are following the University of Cambridge Young Learners format of Starters, Movers and Flyers, and success in many of our learners is already evident. The main thrust of this programme is to allow the children to use the language they are learning in a natural way and within a comfortable framework. We also look to complement their learning of English at their regular school to ensure that their grades go north and not south! We know how important that is to the Parents as well as the children! Congratulations to all on a great start to the year.
Our 12 to 16 year old Teenagers are now using new learning materials. The old series of books have been replaced by an excellent series that has been reasearched and written with the young 21st century teen in mind, providing exciting and stimulating activites geared towards what a Generation Y child needs and thrives upon. The Macmillan series "Inspirations" has already proven to be a great choice and excellent results have already been registered. The added bonus for our staff is to see the smile on the face of each student and this tells us they are enjoying what they are learning in the classes. Keep up the good work, Generation Y!
